Sensing & Data The physical world, made measurable.

Sensing and digitalisation of spaces, assets and movement: what is where, how busy it is, how it moves, captured privately and in real time, then turned into data people can act on. It comes out of REKA’s applied R&D and lives in Harmonik, REKA’s sensing division.

It began with the sensors and edge computing we built for our 2016 self-driving car. The rule has not changed since: count what matters, never who it is.

PLExyz Grid, which grew out of Harmonik’s research, maps a site on its own layout.

What we work on

Roads, buildings, warehouses and the devices that read them, with privacy designed in from the sensor up.

AI-generated illustration. Unique newly generated illustrative scene: Wide editorial office corridor photo in Malaysia: a fictional adult technician on a short stable platform ladder fitting a small unbranded flush ceiling occupancy sensor, no camera lens visible, a facilities colleague safely observing from the side. Low ceiling, ordinary wiring concealed, daylight from windows. A generic illustrative installation, not a specific product, private client site or claimed deployed system. Not actual REKA staff, a named client or deployment evidence.
Traffic sensing for cities

With Murata, a traffic-counting system localised for Malaysia: vehicle class, count and CO2 within each sensor’s coverage, analysed in real time. It counts vehicles and never detects the people inside them.

Occupancy, Wi-Fi first

How many people are in each space, and never who they are: no faces, and no video ever exists. Our crowd analytics work across Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam was recognised by Frost & Sullivan (Best Crowd Analytics, 2022).

Spaces and assets on their own layout

A warehouse or yard drawn as it really is, from zones down to spaces, with cargo, bookings and movements on top. This became PLExyz Grid, now an AntaraX product, free for one facility.

PLExyz →
Location at the edge

Low-power location inference that runs on the device: dead-reckoning fused with GNSS, built for sites where connectivity drops and privacy is not optional. The Lab proved it, and it became PLExyz.

Custom sensors and edge devices

When no product fits, we design the sensors and edge devices with you. Our open IoT dev board, now on its third revision, is how a sensing idea becomes a field prototype.

From signal to decision

Sensing is only the first step. The data feeds applied AI that makes sense of it, and automation that acts on it, with a person in the loop.

From sensor to council: Murata traffic sensing Murata’s traffic sensors, deployed in Cyberjaya, send raw data to REKA, which analyses it in real time: vehicle class, number of vehicles and CO₂ within each sensor’s coverage. The data is prepared for the Sepang Municipal Council and used by planners and agencies for more informed decisions. It also gives the digital advertising sector real-time traffic information.
