PLExyz Crowd

Know how your building is really used.

PLExyz Crowd shows how many people are in each space, live, how they move and how long they stay. It senses primarily with Wi-Fi, which counts devices, not faces, and depending on the use case extends to LiDAR, cameras and RFID. It began in 2021 as PLExyz’s Wi-Fi based sensing and is a closed pilot, part of PLExyz, the AntaraX sub-brand that grew from REKA research.

“How many people are actually in this building right now, and do we need all this space?”

  • Leases are signed on headcount and assumption.
  • Meeting rooms sit booked but empty, and whole floors run for a handful of people.
  • Badge counters only see the door, never what happens inside.
  • Cameras could count, but they record faces, and that brings a privacy review of its own.

How PLExyz Crowd works

Wi-Fi first: counts, not faces.

  • Signals already in the space

Each PLExyz unit picks up the Wi-Fi-enabled devices people already carry, within about 50 metres. One unit was enough for a café in Seremban.

  • Counts devices, not faces

Wi-Fi sensing counts presence and never identifies who is present. It uses no camera, so it leaves no footage to leak or mishandle. Cameras join only where a project calls for them.

  • Works through walls

Wi-Fi sensing works through walls, so one unit covers more than one room. It needs no line of sight and no light, which suits rooms where a camera has no place, such as prayer rooms and rest areas.

  • More than Wi-Fi

Depending on the use case, LiDAR, cameras and RFID extend the Wi-Fi sensing, on their own or together. All three are live, deployed on a project basis. PLExyz’s spatial technology

What PLExyz Crowd measures

On a web dashboard, with real-time alerts when something needs a person.

  • Footfall

How many people come into a space, and when the peaks hit.

  • Movement patterns

Where people go within a site, and which areas stay quiet.

  • Visitor journey

The path visitors take through a location, from one area to the next.

  • Repeat visits

How many visitors come back, and how often.

  • Time spent

How long people stay in each space.

  • Conversion

The share of visitors who go on to take an action you care about.

Design sketches of a hexagonal PLExyz sensor unit: front, exploded view, ports, stacking and wall mount

The PLExyz unit, and tags

The sensing sits in a small unit that mounts on a wall. The design sketches show its light ring, a modem module and battery, power, USB and LAN ports, and a push-and-slide wall mount. They are concept drawings, not photographs of a deployment.

For people and assets that need to be located, PLExyz uses Wi-Fi tags:

Power
5 V, charged over USB-C
Battery
About 1 hour of charge for about 6 months of operation
Size
50 × 50 × 16 mm

A closed pilot, run as part of Managed AI

PLExyz Crowd is open to a small number of sites. Tell the team about your building and they reply to say whether a pilot fits. Each pilot runs as part of REKA’s Managed AI service, so you get the outcome without building an AI team.

  • Set up with you, on your site and your data, sized to the pilot.
  • Your team uses it day to day, with a direct line to the people building it.
  • REKA keeps it running and reliable while you focus on the work.
  • What you learn shapes the product before it opens to everyone.

PLExyz Crowd, from AntaraX

PLExyz Crowd is part of PLExyz, an AntaraX sub-brand that grew from proven REKA research.

REKA explores, researches and engineers; AntaraX productises, deploys and scales what proves repeatable. The pilot itself is requested at antarax.ai.
